Nurses' Assistant

A Nurses' Assistant feeds and assists residents with nutritional intake and follows dietary restrictions; assists residents with hygiene and grooming needs; transfers and assists residents with ambulation and mobility needs; assists residents with active and passive range of motion exercises; applies external catheters and performs routine care of urinary drainage devices; applies anti-embolism stockings and pneumatic stockings; re-applies nasal cannula and oxygen mask for residents already receiving oxygen therapy; collects specimens as directed by the RN/LPN; responds to resident/family requests as appropriate; participates in new employee orientation; attends in-services and staff meetings as required; and other duties as assigned.

Must be a licensed Certified Nurse's Aid in accordance with the laws of the Colorado State Board of Nursing, or within four months of employment be able to: receive 16 hours of pre-orientation; receive at least two shifts of on-the-job training; receive a CNA course consisting of 40 hours of clinical training and 40 hours of classroom training; and pass the certification exam for a CNA.
