The Wexford - Loveland

Activities Internship - At The Wexford, our staff works to provide an enriching and stimulating environment for all of our residents, interns, and volunteers. This is a unique opportunity for you as an intern to not only apply your education to this population, but also expand your experience within the gerontology field and create a safe and fun environment for our older adults. As the Activity Director of The Wexford, I am here to help you expand your knowledge, increase your experience, and create opportunities for you to implement new ideas. Some of the projects that I need your assistance with include running bingo, crossword puzzle, Wii games, etc. Although there are many hands on activities, I also want you to experience the Activity Director position as a whole and learn to create flyers, help design the calendar, and construct various surveys, trivia questions, etc. Once you have experienced the wisdom, love, and kindness of these residents you will have a new outlook on life and understanding of individuals as a whole. This experience as an activities intern will give you an opportunity to develop lifelong skills and relationships. You won't want to miss out on this opportunity while you are deciding what the next step in life will be.

Activities Internship - The Winslow Activity Department provides a great learning environment for interns by working with the individual students to gear special projects to the intern's interests. The intern experience at The Winslow not only benefit the student by providing them with hands on involvement in the planning, set up, and running of activities; but hopes to utilize the intern's ideas, suggestions, and education to build up and continuously improve the Activity Department. Activities Internship - At The Worthington our goal is to create a safe, loving, family based environment for seniors in our community. We not only open our doors to caring for seniors, but also invite students and volunteers into our building to interact with our residents. Spending time with the senior population offers a variety of endless experiences, priceless stories and long lasting relationships. As a student intern at The Worthington, you would be working closely with Tami Promes, the Activity Director, other Columbine employees, and of course residents! Interns assist the Activity Director in running daily activities such as; exercise, news groups, birthday parties, presentations, games, etc. We want students to practice interpersonal skills by visiting with residents, taking part in activities, and eventually leading activities on their own. We also encourage students to use their imaginations and creativity to come up with their own ideas for new activities! Besides leading activities and events, the student will be responsible for helping the A.D. plan monthly calendars, advertise upcoming events, and work with word documents. Spending your semester at The Worthington will give you a greater understanding of the duties and responsibilities of an Activity Director in a Senior Living facility and help you to understand the broad spectrum of care that Columbine Health Systems has to offer.

Activities Internship - We are looking for an intern in the Activities department at Columbine Commons. As an intern at Columbine Commons Assisted Living, you have a opportunity to work with a population that is fun and loving. The activity program offers a hands-on opportunity to interact with our residents through socials, exercise, creative outlooks, and many more activities. We are seeking an intern with charisma and contagious energy who is passionate about working with seniors. As an intern, you would benefit from time spent with the residents, in addition to working with the Activity Directors behind the scenes. There are several aspects to the internship that you will be involved in, such as, facilitating activities, assisting in creating the monthly facility newsletter and calendar, as well as, working with outside services.

New Mercer Commons - Fort CollinsNew Mercer Commons

Activities Internship - At New Mercer Commons, I am looking for an intern to use this experience to expand their knowledge of senior health care and all the different services we offer, not just NMC, but Columbine as a whole. They will be running activities, working on projects, and any other goals and objectives they want to pursue while at their internship.  We have two sides of the building, supervised and secure units. I would like them to participate with both sides to understand first hand the stages of dementia and the aging process.

Centre Avenue Health & Rehab Facility - Fort Collins

Activities Internship - While serving as an Activities Intern at Centre Avenue Health & Rehab, you will become oriented to the Activities Department and to the environment at Centre Avenue, a rehab and long term care facility.  The Activities Department coordinates and provides leisure and recreational activities for residents interested in group and/or independent activity pursuits.  As an intern, you will learn to assess residents to aid in their specialized care.  You will learn how to plan the monthly calendar of group events.  And you will assist the Activities Team in providing the best experience possible for the residents in our care.

Social Services Internship - The intern would be involved in the admission and discharge process at a 90 - bed Medicare facility. The intern would utilize resources in the community to meet the medical and psychosocial needs of residents going home or to other facilities, as well as, assisting in meeting the needs of the patients and families while they are at Centre Avenue. Interns will also have opportunities to learn the DSM-IV and mental health diagnosis, especially those affecting the elderly.

Activities Internship - Our days are never the same with wonderful residents, delightful staff and a fast paced schedule. Our work load consist of;  charting ( participation records, Matrix notes and care plans), we gather residents and run each activity, we provide 1:1 visits with those residents who need smaller quieter settings, we decorate for the holidays, and last but not least, we try to make relationships with the residents that are meaningful and true. Our Activities Department team works very well together and has a lot of fun! We would love to have you join our team!

Social Services Internship - While working in the facility, you will acquire experience by working with residents, families and staff to provide for the resident's psychosocial needs. As you continue to get hands-on experience, you will learn the processes and procedures to help you develop skills in the field of social work and human services. You will have the opportunity to get to know and work with many of our wonderful residents and their family members.

Senior Center - Fort Collins

Wellness Partnership Interns - Columbine Health Systems, the City of Fort Collins, and UC Health are partners in providing a full range of Health & Wellness opportunities in City Recreation Facilities. This position provides support in planning and programming classes and services. The ideal intern will be professional, confident, organized, and personable. This is the “business” of wellness with only limited one-on-one time with members. Prefer those who have a strong education/background in Health & Exercise Science, Marketing, Business, or Human Development.

Lifestyle Centre - Fort Collins

Fitness/Wellness Interns - This position will split time between the Wellness Partnership and the Lifestyle Centre Health Club. See Wellness Partnership Intern for summary. The Lifestyle Centre’s ideal intern will be a Health & Exercise Science major. You will assist in all areas of a health club: front desk duties, tours, orientations, fitness floor monitor. Must be outgoing and willing to work one-on-one with clients. Personal Training certification and Group Exercise certification are not required but preferred.

Towards the end of their internship I would like to have this person plan, prepare and execute a social themselves. Admissions Office - Admission Intern would be Learning the admission process from the initial assessing of a patient to the Admission paperwork with either patient or their Medical Power of Attorney. They will also learn how to do tours for prospective future patients. Work on obtaining most current advanced directives and do audits for these on patients who don't come in with them. We also do a Follow up visit with each patient once they are in the building for a few days to see how their stay is going and see if they have concerns or if they felt Admit process went well. So the intern will be responsible for the interaction with patients on this.

Social Services Internship - A social services internship at Lemay Avenue can be as varied or as specific as needed by the individual student. This is a fast-paced environment which requires constant assessment of priorities, strong communication skills, crisis management, initiative, and problem-solving. Skills developed include: Interviewing, advocacy, problem-solving, assessment, communication, community referrals/resources, case management, understanding geriatric medical conditions, interacting with Dementia/Alzheimer's/Parkinson's, and psychoactive medications and mental health diagnosis

North Shore Health & Rehab Facility - Loveland

Activities Internship - Our days are never the same with wonderful residents, delightful staff and a fast paced schedule. Our work load consist of;  charting ( participation records, Matrix notes and care plans), we gather residents and run each activity, we provide 1:1 visits with those residents who need smaller quieter settings, we decorate for the holidays, and last but not least, we try to make relationships with the residents that are meaningful and true. Our Activities Department team works very well together and has a lot of fun! We would love to have you join our team!

Wellness Partnership Interns - Columbine Health Systems, the City of Fort Collins, and UC Health are partners in providing a full range of Health & Wellness opportunities in City Recreation Facilities. This position provides support in planning and programming classes and services. The ideal intern will be professional, confident, organized, and personable. This is the “business” of wellness with only limited one-on-one time with members. Prefer those who have a strong education/background in Health & Exercise Science, Marketing, Business, or Human Development.

Lifestyle Centre - Fort Collins

Fitness/Wellness Interns - This position will split time between the Wellness Partnership and the Lifestyle Centre Health Club. See Wellness Partnership Intern for summary. The Lifestyle Centre’s ideal intern will be a Health & Exercise Science major. You will assist in all areas of a health club: front desk duties, tours, orientations, fitness floor monitor. Must be outgoing and willing to work one-on-one with clients. Personal Training certification and Group Exercise certification are not required but preferred.
